Soul Train Awards Pay Tribute to Heavy D

This year’s Soul Train Awards, taped in Atlanta on November 17, didn’t hold back with their tribute to late rapper Heavy D, who died on November 8 at the age of 44.

The ceremony, which aired on BET Sunday, showed a boisterous tribute that included the likes of Naughty by Nature, Doug E. Fresh, Kurtis Blow, Big Daddy Kane, and Goodie Mob. (Watch the clip at RapRadar.com.)

After rocking the crowd with a medley of Heavy D‘s greatest, the performers chanted along with the crowd, “We got nothin’ but love for you, Heavy.” The awards show also played a retrospective of Heav’s own Soul Train win in 1991, when he was part of Heavy D & the Boyz.
