One of our favorite filmmaking teams has a new project in the works, according to the Reporters.
Matt Damon and Ben Affleck will reportedly produce a new movie called “Race to the South Pole,” which has Affleck’s brother Casey attached to star.
The film centers on the true life efforts of Robert Falcon Scott and Roald Amundsen to reach the South Pole in the early 1900s. With Scott hailing from England and Amundsen from Norway, the two explorers were, as the title suggests, in a race to see who would reach the mysterious terrain first.
According to THR, Casey’s attached to portray Scott, and Peter Glanz is on board to write the script.
In addition to “Race to the South Pole,” moviemaking pair Damon and Affleck also have a film about Boston gangster Whitey Bulger in the works, which would star Damon and be directed by Affleck.
The “Bourne” franchise is carrying on without Matt Damon, and as the trailer for “The Bourne Legacy” tells us, “there was never just one.”
Enter Jeremy Renner, who’s filling the shoes of a new agent after Damon passed on continuing Jason Bourne’s story.
Directed and written by Tony Gilroy, “The Bourne Legacy” sees Renner as Aaron Cross, although he refers to himself as Kenneth in the new trailer. Either way, we’re told in the clip that he’s part of the Outcome program –”Treadstone without the inconsistency” – and that he can heal remarkably well.
“Jason Bourne,” says Edward Norton‘s character, Byer, “was just the tip of the iceberg.”
What do you think of the trailer? Damon has said that he’s “really pulling for this one, even though I don’t have anything to do with it. Selfishly, it’s bad for me if that movie doesn’t do well.”
We’ll find out when “The Bourne Legacy” arrives August 3.
Wait a minute! Who is that?
While on an errand in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, Matt Damon debuted a new look: a completely shaved head.
Damon is on location filming ‘Elysium,’ a science fiction action flick.
For an actor who lives a reasonably low-key life, this (lack of) ‘do will certainly get people talking.
Scary or sexy?
Neill Blomkamp began shooting his project Elysium in Vancouver, with a cast that includes Matt Damon, Jodie Foster, and Sharlto Copley. Producer Simon Kinberg recently spoke about the project, and while he wouldn’t say much about the story, he indicated Elysium isn’t exactly an alien movie, and will be very different from Neill Blomkamp’s first movie, District 9.
