Obama: Beyonce Couldn’t Be A Better Role Model For My Daughters

The Kardashian family may not be welcome on the White House TVs, but we’re betting that Beyonce is.

President Obama attended a fundraiser hosted by the 31-year-old singer and her husband Jay-Z on Tuesday night in New York City. At the event, which took place at Jay’s 40/40 Club, Obama reaffirmed his love for the superstar pair.

To Jay and Bey, thank you so much for your friendship,” Obama said, according to Politico. About 100 arrived at the fundraiser, shelling out $40,000 per person.

The President joked that he has a few things in common with Jay-Z, such as their family life: “We both have daughters and our wives are more popular than we are,” Obama said, giving a nod to Blue Ivy, naturally. “So, you know, we’ve got a little bond there. It’s hard, but it’s OK.

He then bestowed high praise on Jay’s wife, telling the crowd gathered that “Beyonce could not be a better role model for my girls.” In fact, he added,”Michelle, Sasha and Malia are mad at me because they’re not here.

Beyonce Dons Red For First Post-Baby Event

A month after giving birth to Blue Ivy, new mom Beyonce is back on her feet. Or, should we say, back in her Louboutins.

The 30-year-old star singer made her first public appearance since Blue Ivy‘s arrival in New York City last night, when she attended her husband Jay-Z‘s first performance at Carnegie Hall.

The rapper and industry mogul, 42, is performing there to benefit the United Way of New York City and the Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation, with proceeds going to help fight poverty, boost on-time graduation rates in underserved NYC schools and help low-income students across New York’s five boroughs go to college.

The singer stunned onlookers in a red, curve-hugging Alice By Temperley dress and Christian Louboutin heels. The New York Daily News reports that Beyonce and Jay moved their celebration to the 40/40 Club, where they hosted an afterparty.

During his Carnegie set, with a 36-piece orchestra backing him up along with his 10-piece band, Jay-Z performed hits like “99 Problems” and “Big Pimpin’,” as well as reveling in his proud papa status with a performance of “Glory.”

Jay-Z Performs Song On His ‘Greatest Creation,’ Announces Arrival Of Baby Blue

Jay-Z has rapped about making “the song cry,” and now it seems like he is aiming to get fans welling up with his latest song, a tribute to his newborn daughter.

The rapper and his wife, singer Beyonce, had a baby girl over the weekend, the couple announced in a statement Monday.

“We are happy to announce the arrival of our beautiful daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, born on Saturday, January 7, 2012,” the pair say in a post on Beyonce‘s website. “Her birth was emotional and extremely peaceful, we are in heaven. She was delivered naturally at a healthy 7 pounds and it was the best experience of both of our lives. We are thankful to everyone for all your prayers, well wishes, love and support.”

Meanwhile, the New York City hospital where the couple welcomed their newborn has issued a statement of its own to denounce reports that Beyonce and Jay-Z received special treatment.

“Lenox Hill Hospital and its staff were delighted to welcome the Carter family for the birth of their firstborn on Saturday evening, but we are troubled by the misinformation being circulated in some news media reports,” the executive director of the Lenox Hill Hospital, Frank Danza, said in a statement Monday. “The suggestion that the couple paid $1.3 million to rent an entire maternity floor is simply not true. The family is housed in an executive suite at the hospital and is being billed the standard rate for those accommodations. Our executive suites are available for any patient, including the food service and amenities provided to the Carter family.”

There were also rumors that a father was prevented from seeing his premature twin girls by Beyonce and Jay-Z’s security team, but Danza denies the reports. While the superstar couple did have their own security, “No security plan that we or the Carters’ security team put in place would have prevented or delayed families from gaining access to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and to date, no families have complained to the hospital about being denied access to the NICU.”

Danza adds that the hospital has “have made every effort to ensure minimal disruption to other families experiencing the births of their own children over the past three days.”

On Monday, Jay-Z focused on baby Blue by releasing a song titled “Glory” on his website “Life + Times,” along with a single statement: “Life just got REALLY good.”

Jay-Z rhymes on the song, which features B.I.C. – three guesses what those initials stand for – “The most amazing feeling I feel/words can’t describe what I’m feeling for real/baby, I paint the sky blue/my greatest creation was you.”

On the song, Jay says of his inspiration: “You’re a child of destiny/you’re the child of my destiny/you’re my child with the child from Destiny’s Child/that’s a hell of a recipe.” He adds at another point, “The most beautifulest thing in this world/is daddy’s little girl.”

The 42-year-old also appears to get surprisingly personal, considering how comparatively private the couple are. “You don’t know what swag is yet but you was made in Paris/and mama woke up the next day and shot an album package,” Jay-Z says on the track. “Last time the miscarriage was so tragic/we was afraid you disappeared/but nah, baby, you magic.”

Beyoncé and Jay-Z Welcome Baby Girl and Name Her Blue Ivy Carter

Superstar couple Beyoncé Knowles and Jay-Z have welcomed their first child – a baby girl named Blue Ivy Carter.

The 30-year-old singer’s daughter arrived via scheduled caesarean section at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City last night.

The couple’s close friend Gwyneth Paltrow confirmed the baby’s name on Twitter, writing: ‘Welcome to the world Blue! We love you already.’

Beyoncé’s 42-year-old rapper husband Jay-Z, real name Shawn Carter, was by her side during the birth, according to reports.

A source told Beyoncé’s hometown newspaper Houston Chronicle that ‘mother and baby are doing fine‘.

The baby’s middle name Ivy may be in reference to Beyoncé and Jay-Z‘s love of the number 4. They married on April 4, 2008, Beyoncé’s latest album is called 4 and the couple have matching tattoos of the roman numeral for 4 – IV – on their wedding fingers.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z were also born on September 4 and December 4 respectively.

Regarding Blue, Jay-Z has a trilogy of albums with the word in the title. The Blueprint was released in 2001 around the time he got together with Beyoncé, The Blueprint2: The Gift & The Curse came out in 2002 and The Blueprint 3 in 2009.

Despite initial confusion the baby was named Ivy Blue, E! reporter Ken Baker later clarified friends of the couple have confirmed the newborn was actually called Blue Ivy.

Paltrow also clarified the name to a confused Twitter follower: ‘It’s Blue Ivy Carter.’

And the singer’s younger sister Solange tweeted today: ‘The most beautiful girl in the world.’

Pregnant Beyonce Steps Out for First Time Since Birth Rumors

Beyonce definitely still has a bun in the oven!

There was speculation over the holidays about whether the 30-year-old singer had given birth, but Jay-Z‘s pregnant wife put the rumors to rest when she stepped out in NYC Thursday clutching her huge baby bump.

Wearing skinny jeans, gold heels, an ornate scarf and black blazer, Beyonce was all smiles as a bodyguard accompanied her out of a New York office building.

So if she didn’t ring in the New Year giving birth at the hospital, how did Beyonce and Jay-Z, 42, finish out 2011? With fried chicken and oysters! A source said that the duo dined at Brooklyn’s Buttermilk Channel restaurant.

Beyonce And Jay-Z Expecting A Baby Girl?

Kelly Rowland seemingly let the news slip on a red carpet in London.

Are Beyoncé and Jay-Z expecting a baby girl? Well, according to one of Bey’s closest friends, the answer is “yes.”

While in London to attend the Cosmopolitan Ultimate Women of the Year Awards on Thursday, it was none other than Beyoncé‘s former Destiny’s Child mate Kelly Rowland who let it be known — rather inadvertently, it would seem — that the high-powered couple would be having a girl.

“I’m so happy for my sister and her husband. They’re so happy in this moment right now, as they should be. They made a little bundle of love. I’m so excited for them,” Rowland told U.K. news agency Bang Showbiz. “I have no idea what I’m going to buy Beyoncé at the baby shower because Jay is going to buy that little girl every single thing possible. She won’t be spoiled, but she will be very well looked-after.”

So there you have it. Of course, there’s yet to be an official statement from the couple, and a spokesperson for Beyoncé did not respond to MTV News’ request for comment on the matter.

Last month, Rowland told MTV News that she was excited “to be an auntie” to the couple’s child and added that she can’t wait to babysit. And assuming she hasn’t been placed on Jayoncé‘s blacklist for letting the information slip, Rowland also told Bang Showbiz she’s planning to make herself available to help out the couple as much as possible.

“I’ll be on hand for babysitting duties,” she said. “And I’m actually very good with messy diapers.”

Beyonce Covers Up Baby Bump for B-Day Celebration in Venice

First-time mom-to-be Beyonce is still jet-setting — for now.

On Saturday, the day before her 30th birthday, the “Love on Top” singer emerged in Venice, Italy with husband Jay-Z.

Stepping out of their hotel, Beyonce covered up her growing baby bump in a maxi pattern dress as Jay-Z, 41, protectively placed his hand behind her. The duo are in town for the watery, romantic Italian city’s annual film festival — where stars like their close pal Gwyneth Paltrow, Madonna, Matt Damon, Keira Knightley, James Franco, Jessica Chastain, Al Pacino, George Clooney, Salma Hayek and many others are promoting big-time films.

Jay-Z (real name: Shawn Carter) has been the doting dad-to-be ever since the spouses of three years discovered they were expecting. “He was even concerned about her performing in heels,” an insider told reporters of Beyonce, who is about 4 months along, “but the doctor said it would be fine.”

And even before the Grammy winning singer announced her pregnancy to her inner circle — later announcing it before millions at last week’s MTV VMAs — they suspected something was up. “She’s been hungrier for Southern cooking. Voracious!” a source close to her band says. “She always burns it off but hasn’t been particularly worried about being in tip-top shape like she always is. When they told us, we just cried.”

Beyonce Shatters Twitter Record with Big Pregnancy Reveal

Outside L.A.’s Nokia Theater at Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards, Beyonce broke the major news to insiders that she’s expecting her first child with husband Jay-Z.

But it wasn’t until she hit the stage later that night when the rest of the world was let in on the news.

Moments after finishing her incredible “Love on Top” performance, the star, 29, ripped open her purple sequined D&G blazer to reveal her baby bump, which in turn shattered Twitter’s record of the highest number of sent tweets per second.

“Last night at 10:35pm ET, Beyonce’s big MTV #VMA moment gave Twitter a record bump: 8,868 Tweets per second,” the company’s official handle @TwitterGlobalPR tweeted on Monday.

The mass amount of 140 character-long messages wasn’t the only way the Grammy-winning artist took over Twitter: “BEYONCE IS PREGNANT” turned into a huge Trending Topic and many fans changed their Twitter profile pic to photos of the songstress.

Twitter’s impressive stat comes as no surprise, since Sunday night’s VMAs had the highest ratings for the award show ever. The Los Angeles Times reported that according to Nielson Co., the audience was up 9 percent compared to last year’s VMAs: 12.4 million viewers tuned in, making it MTV’s most-watched telecast ever.
