The artist we once knew solely as Snoop Dogg announced Monday that he’s ready to leave his Doggy ways behind him as he focuses on creating reggae music under the name Snoop Lion.
“Rap is not a challenge to me,” Snoop said Monday night at a press event in New York City, according to reporters.
“With no disrespect to other rappers, but they can’t f*** with me in rap,” he went on. “I’ve won every accolade you can get in rap, they call me ‘Uncle Snoop’ in rap. When you’re an uncle, it’s time to find something new … I want to feel like a kid again.”
The need to challenge himself seems to be part of the reason the legendary West Coast MC is releasing a reggae project called “Reincarnated” – just don’t look for him to rap on it.
“It’s not that I want to become Snoop Dogg on a reggae track,” Snoop said. “I want to bury Snoop Dogg, and become Snoop Lion. I didn’t know that until I went to the temple, where the High Priest asked me what my name was, and I said, ‘Snoop Dogg.’ And he looked me in my eyes and said, ‘No more. You are the light; you are the lion.’ From that moment on, it’s like I had started to understand why I was there.”
Another reason he gave for his musical shift is a desire “to perform for kids and my grandmother, people around the world who really love me and can’t really accept the music that I make,” he told press. “This reggae music is music of love –happiness and sadness.”
In case there was ever any doubt: CBS is working on having How I Met Your Mother return for a ninth season.
President of CBS Entertainment Nina Tassler today confirmed ongoing negotiations that would give the comedy another season. “They know we want the show to come back next year, and we’re having conversations right now about extending it,” she said. “We’re in early conversations and we’re pretty optimistic.”
News of a possible season 9 does not come as a surprise; creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas have previously said their plans could extend beyond the eighth season, which premieres Sept. 24. “They had an incredible year last year, and we’ve got a great relationship with Craig and Carter,” said Tassler.
In other comedy news (SPOILER ALERT!), Tassler later spilled on the second season of 2 Broke Girls, which will find the financially strapped pair, played by Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs, opening up their cupcake shop! “They are going to open up the cupcake business — without the help of Martha Stewart, I might add,” she said. “It’s more about the business and how that impacts the relationship.”
Robert Pattinson has packed his bags.
Following Kristen Stewart‘s public apology for having a fling with her Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders, the 26-year-old actor has left the Los Angeles home he shared with Stewart, reports hsve confirmed.
“I’m not sure they’ll be able to recover from this,” a source says of the couple of three years, who met making the Twilight trilogy.
In seclusion and not in contact with Stewart, 22, the British star “is heartbroken and angry,” says the source.
A “devastated” Stewart, meanwhile, described Pattinson as “the person I love and respect the most” in her apology following revelations of her indiscretion with Sanders, 41, a married father of two.
“Kristen really loves Rob more than anything,” says an insider. “He’s all that matters to her right now.”
Eyebrows are raising throughout Hollywood as rumors allege that “Twilight” franchise star Kristen Stewart had a dalliance outside of her reported relationship with “Twilight” co-star Robert Pattinson.
People magazine as well as Us Weekly are citing anonymous sources who claim that the 22-year-old had a recent fling with her “Snow White and the Huntsman” director Rupert Sanders. Sanders is said to be married with two kids.
While source closes to the situation told People the two were not involved romantically, one reportedly said that “Kristen is absolutely devastated. … It was a mistake and a complete lapse in judgment.”
This source went on to say that Stewart “wasn’t having an affair with Rupert. It was just a fleeting moment that shouldn’t have happened. She never meant to hurt anyone. She’s a good person who just made a bad choice.”
Pattinson and Stewart met on the set of 2008’s “Twilight” and have been linked since, although neither actor has been blatantly overt about any presumed relationship. Stewart herself has not responded to the allegations, and neither has a rep for Sanders.
If there was trouble in paradise, it certainly wasn’t evident on Sunday when Stewart, Pattinson and Taylor Lautner accepted the lifetime achievement award for the “Twilight” films at the Teen Choice Awards.
