Fallon Confirms He Won’t Host The Oscars

Well, there’s one name off the list of potential Oscar hosts.

Saturday Night Live alum and late-night host Jimmy Fallon told Matt Lauer this morning on Today that he’d been approached about hosting the Academy Awards, but it’s not going to work out.

“No, I’m not going to do the Oscars,” he told Lauer a little glumly. “It’s an honor to be asked by the academy, but it’s not my year.”

This, despite the fact that his former SNL boss Lorne Michaels, who also produces Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, is producing the 85th Academy Awards show next year.

It’s not clear if Fallon turned the offer down or if the Academy decided to go in a different direction. Either way, Lauer seemed bummed about the news. “That wasn’t quite the note I was hoping to end on,” he admitted.
