If we were to pick one person to go to an Awards show with, it would obviously be Sofia Vergara. First of all, the Modern Family star brought her real Colombian family to the show. There were like 17 of them! Can you imagine what a seating nightmare that was for the Emmys people? When she showed up on the red carpet to do her interview with Ryan Seacrest, she was ready to party – doing a little shimmy-jig for the cameras. And things only got crazier.
Twenty minutes before Modern Family won the award for Best Comedy (which would require Vergara to appear onstage), her zipper burst in the bathroom. Normal people might be embarrassed – but she tweeted a picture of her bare bum instead. “”Yes!!!! This happend 20 min before we won!!!! Jajajajja. I luv my life!!!!” she tweeted. See Vergara’s Emmys night in photos:
“Good night EmmyS!! What a fun night!! See u next year!!!hAjaja” she tweeted.
The party rockers’ party is coming to an end—at least for now.
LMFAO—aka the duo made up of Redfoo and SkyBlu—are going on indefinite hiatus, the group’s label confirms to reporters.
The label also reveals that the two musicians are currently working on separate projects.
“I feel like we’ve been doing this for so long, five or six years,” Redfoo said, per published reports. “And we’re kind of like saying, well, let’s just do what’s natural and just kind of explore that, instead of like forcing it all the time.”
Redfoo notes that he and SkyBlu have begun moving in “different directions,” adding, “I think that we naturally just started hanging with two different sets of people, two different crowds, but we’re always family.”
And what a family it is: The duo come from serious musical royalty. Redfoo, whose real name is Stefan Kendal Gordy, is the son of Motown founder Berry Gordy, and SkyBlu (aka Skyler Austen Gordy) is Redfoo’s nephew.
Don’t expect them to be down for long: Redfoo hints that the music he plans to create solo won’t stray too far from LMFAO’s thumping, dance-floor-burning beats.
The duo’s explosive 2009 debut album, Party Rock, spent an impressive 33 weeks on the Billboard 200 chart, and their follow-up, Sorry for Party Rocking, spawned two of their biggest hits: “Party Rock Anthem” and “Sexy and I Know It,” which both shot to No. 1.
One of our favorite filmmaking teams has a new project in the works, according to the Reporters.
Matt Damon and Ben Affleck will reportedly produce a new movie called “Race to the South Pole,” which has Affleck’s brother Casey attached to star.
The film centers on the true life efforts of Robert Falcon Scott and Roald Amundsen to reach the South Pole in the early 1900s. With Scott hailing from England and Amundsen from Norway, the two explorers were, as the title suggests, in a race to see who would reach the mysterious terrain first.
According to THR, Casey’s attached to portray Scott, and Peter Glanz is on board to write the script.
In addition to “Race to the South Pole,” moviemaking pair Damon and Affleck also have a film about Boston gangster Whitey Bulger in the works, which would star Damon and be directed by Affleck.
President Obama attended a fundraiser hosted by the 31-year-old singer and her husband Jay-Z on Tuesday night in New York City. At the event, which took place at Jay’s 40/40 Club, Obama reaffirmed his love for the superstar pair.
“To Jay and Bey, thank you so much for your friendship,” Obama said, according to Politico. About 100 arrived at the fundraiser, shelling out $40,000 per person.
The President joked that he has a few things in common with Jay-Z, such as their family life: “We both have daughters and our wives are more popular than we are,” Obama said, giving a nod to Blue Ivy, naturally. “So, you know, we’ve got a little bond there. It’s hard, but it’s OK.”
He then bestowed high praise on Jay’s wife, telling the crowd gathered that “Beyonce could not be a better role model for my girls.” In fact, he added,”Michelle, Sasha and Malia are mad at me because they’re not here.“
The third time will hopefully be the charm for Annie Lennox.
The 57-year-old singer married Dr. Mitch Besser on September 15 in London, Lennox’s rep tells reporters. The private ceremony was attended by family and friends.
According to People magazine, Lennox, who has been married twice before, walked down the aisle in a long white gown, accessorized with a lace bolero and a 1920s-inspired headpiece.
The singer’s two daughters, whom she had with former husband Uri Fruchtmann, reportedly served as bridesmaids.
American gynecologist Besser, also 57, founded the organization mothers2mothers, which aims to prevent mother-to-child transmission of HIV.
Nicole Kidman is saying sayonara, officially, to her amazing West Village, NYC pad.
The actress — who primarily resides in Nashville with husband Keith Urban and daughters Sunday, 4, and Faith, 19 months — has owned the massive 3,785-square-foot residence on Perry Street, boasting incredible Hudson River views, for nine years. Frustrated by a nearby construction project that interfered with the panorama, the Oscar-winner attempted to rent out the place for $45,000 a month, according to a source.
At some point, however, Kidman decided to part with the home for good, and it sold to an LLC on July 10 for a whopping $16 million.
The amazing views and hip neighborhood weren’t the property’s only selling points. The apartment also features a 30-foot-wide entrance gallery, a terrace, a chef’s kitchen with state-of-the-art appliances, and a master suite with walk-in closets and a soaking tub.
Kidman and country singer Urban still maintain an NYC residence at nearby 200 Eleventh Avenue (which they purchased for $10 million in early 2011), as well as a home in Sydney, Australia — but the Aussie-born stars’ hearts seem to belong to Nashville these days.
Are Lolo Jones and Rashida Jones on the fast track to BFF-dom?
Their lookalike status isn’t lost on either the Olympic hurdler, 30, or the Parks and Recreation star, 36. On Monday, Lolo reached out to her A-list doppelganger on Twitter.
“Thanks @iamrashidajones for running the first race for me so I could rest up . . . They didn’t even notice,” Lolo tweeted. “I’ll take it from here.”
Rashida’s reply? “You’re welcome! I’m super sore though. Maybe you can return the favor and go to this family thing in my place this weekend?” (The Celeste and Jesse Forever actress is the daughter of legendary music producer Quincy Jones and Mod Squad star Peggy Lipton.)
Earlier this year, Lolo sat down with E! News and joked about her plans for a future biopic.
“Oh, I already have this all worked out. The older version of me would be played by Vanessa Williams, and the current Lolo would be played by Rashida Jones,” Lolo explained. “And the younger Lolo would be played by Halle Berry‘s daughter!”
Well, there’s one name off the list of potential Oscar hosts.
Saturday Night Live alum and late-night host Jimmy Fallon told Matt Lauer this morning on Today that he’d been approached about hosting the Academy Awards, but it’s not going to work out.
“No, I’m not going to do the Oscars,” he told Lauer a little glumly. “It’s an honor to be asked by the academy, but it’s not my year.”
This, despite the fact that his former SNL boss Lorne Michaels, who also produces Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, is producing the 85th Academy Awards show next year.
It’s not clear if Fallon turned the offer down or if the Academy decided to go in a different direction. Either way, Lauer seemed bummed about the news. “That wasn’t quite the note I was hoping to end on,” he admitted.
Stanley Tucci has indeed found wedded bliss with Felicity Blunt, a rep for the “Hunger Games” actor tells reporters.
Tucci first let the news slip while attending a screening of Meryl Streep’s new movie, “Hope Springs.” The New York Daily News inquired about the couple’s relationship, and, after a bit of hesitation, Tucci told the paper that yes, he was back off the market.
Blunt, who People magazine reports is a London-based literary agent, is also the sister of Tucci and Streep’s “Devil Wears Prada” co-star, Emily Blunt.
Tucci and Blunt’s engagement was the talk of Tinseltown last November, and the latest rumor on the pair is that they plan to have a larger, second wedding ceremony to celebrate their union.
Tucci, 51, has three children from his marriage to wife Kate, who died from breast cancer in 2009.
Target is typically the place to stock one’s closet with bargain finds, but the retailer is moving into a more high-end category, and all because of “The Hunger Games.”
In alignment with the film’s release on DVD and Blu-ray August 18, Target’s going to sell “Hunger Games”-themed “keepsakes” in very limited quantities on Target.com, including 100 14-carat gold replicas of Katniss Everdeen‘s Mockingjay pin.
Katniss herself, however, would probably experience sticker shock over the price: Target’s retailing the replica pins for $999.
It’s the first time the outlet has offered licensed products in that range, a statement says, and the other two keepsake items are pricier than what you might usually expect from the store chain.
In addition to the pins, Target’s also planning to offer 100 replicas of Katniss’s leather jacket (seen in the photo from the film above) for $349; and 100 lithographs bearing the signatures of 10 of the blockbuster film’s stars – including the actress who portrayed Katniss, Jennifer Lawrence.
Target’s Vice President of Entertainment, John Butcher, said in a statement that while Target is indeed known “for providing must-have merchandise at an unbeatable value … we wanted to surprise our guests by taking it up a notch for ‘The Hunger Games’ and unveiling a prestige collection for devoted fans.”
