Neil Patrick Harris Gives His Twins Smurf Nicknames
Neil Patrick Harris is a self-proclaimed “Smitten Smurf!”
During a Beverly Hills press junket for The Smurfs on Tuesday, the 38-year-old actor said working on the family-friendly flick inspired him to create some adorable nicknames for 9-month-old twins Gideon Scott and Harper Grace.
“I think Gideon would be Stout Smurf, because he’s all like ‘grrr’. He’s like the tank,” Harris said. “And Harper’s just like Beautiful Smurf. She’s an eye-batter right now. She’s wanting to hug and smile and get a smile back, so she’s very good at it.”
Harris, who became a first-time father last October, added that he and partner David Burtka are currently “waiting for them to crawl.”
“They’re pretty great,” he added, “but no big announcements.”
The iconic blue characters make their first big screen appearance since 1983’s The Smurfs and the Magic Flute. A mix of live action and CGI animation, the film features Hank Azaria, Neil Patrick Harris, Jayma Mays, Katy Perry and George Lopez.
Out in cinemas on July 29.
